The ECO Close Encounters Ensemble completed rehearsals on Carnival of the Animals and it sounded stunning. The pictures looked fun on the large screen behind the orchestra and the musicians are going to stand to play, so the whole thing will be wonderfully immediate and communicative. A little spontaneous dance featuring Matt Elston and Miranda Dale emerged from the music and I am hoping they will give a repeat performance in the concert because the kids will love it.
QatarMusicAcademyworkshop went very well. They had slept on yesterday’s rehearsal and absorbed lots of what had happened which was great. We were able to separate into sectionals and then come back together to try out a few options. It is not the same group of children each time, and there may be some who will appear tomorrow for the rehearsal, who have not been before, but it will work and they will have had some valuable time working together. They returned full of enthusiasm today and I hope it will be a lovely experience for them when they come together with the ECO players on the platform on Wednesday morning – we are looking forward to it.
